Bible Trivia: Do Unto Others

In Genesis 6:6 when god sees that the human heart is evil, he:

A:  floods the earth

B:  sends down 10 plagues

C:  comes down to the earth in human form

D:  feels regretful about creating mankind

ANSWER:  D

The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.”

THE BREAKDOWN:

Yes, this passage is the precursor to the flood.

So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

What's interesting here isn't that god decided to kill everyone expect for Noah and his family, but that he is woeful about his mistake.

That's right, the all powerful and all knowing creator of everything made a mistake, and he is troubled by it.

It all started with Adam and Eve.  He made them and everything was hunky dory until they disobeyed them.

But now, after throwing them out of the garden humans are screwing everything up again (big suprise) so he decides to  wipe them out and start fresh.

who needs swimming lessons they say?
well, guess what jerks!

Despite the fresh start, things eventually went wrong again, so he sent his son down to straighten things out.

suprised i'm the only white guy in the middle east?
 yeah, me too...

Which didn't exactly go as planned...

or maybe it did, who knows?

The ongoing theme here is that god made us imperfect but that it just won't do.  We don't know why he would make us have a nature that is against his will, but it was clearly intentional.  Why he would program us to be prone to doing things that upsets him, often resulting in our eternal damnation is baffling.

The best example of this is the seven deadly sins.

Each one is completely natural but all are obviously dangerous in excess.  I would give my own rundown but cracked.com does such a good job of it that I will just recommend theirs.
