Bible Trivia: Abi-dabi-dabu-eh

In Genesis  11: 1-9, when the people of Babel build a tower to reach the heavens, god:

A:  knocks it down

B:  destroys language

C:  becomes fearful of man

D:  scatters people all over the earth

 giggity

ANSWER: B, C & D

Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward,[a] they found a plain in Shinar[b] and settled there.
They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”
But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”
So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel[c]—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth

So humans were seemingly a unified, peaceful people at one point, which make god afraid that they will be able to do anything.  So he confuses them and scatters them across the earth.  I wouldn't call this kind.  To this very day we have people of different languages fighting people from different lands.

This guy was arrested and killed so fast...

I find the implication that the heavens could be reached with a tower as interesting.  It makes heaven seem like a tangible place that actually exists in this context.

 You better bring a magazine

The part that I find the most interesting about this whole story is the part where god talks to himself.

The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

I guess he is talking to his angels, but you would figure that an all powerful god wouldn't need any help confusing his creations.

I mean, come on.  It's not like he made us overly intelligent or anything...
